KYT Regulatory Reporting

Regulatory Reporting is where your compliance team prepares suspicious activity filings (SAR/STR and related reports) from Transaction Trust Monitoring (TTM) alerts. A report is compiled by an analyst, signed off by an MLRO, downloaded, and then filed by your team on the regulator's own portal. Each report tracks its filing deadline and the regulator's response.

info

Regulatory Reporting is opened from the Regulatory Reporting link on the Reports > KYT Reports page. It is available when Transaction Monitoring (KYT) and the Rule Builder are enabled for your account.

note

The Back Office does not submit reports to any regulator. Once a report is signed off, download it and file it through the regulator's portal yourself, then record the outcome in the Back Office.

Who Does What

Regulatory Reporting uses the same review tiers as the Alert Queue: L1, L2, L3 and MLRO.

ActionWho can do it
Save a draftAny user

Sign off, return to the analyst, record the filing status, release a holdMLRO only

The person who compiled a report cannot also sign it off. Another MLRO must review and sign it.

Supported Jurisdictions

Where a jurisdiction supports more than one report type, choose it in Report Type when preparing the report. Each report type has its own form, built from the regulator's fields, and every form ends with a section for attaching supporting documents. For the United Arab Emirates, at least one supporting document is required.

The Regulatory Reporting page shows summary tiles and the SAR / SRT Queue.

Creating a Report

You can create a report in two ways.

From an alert: on the alert's detail page, choose File SAR/SRT under Compile Report in Case Actions and click Submit. The report is created from the alert and opened for you to complete. See Alert Queue.

From the queue:

  1. Click Prepare Report.
  2. In Select a source, choose a triggered alert, or choose Standalone filing to enter all details manually.
  3. Click Continue.

The report is created as a draft, and information from the linked alert is filled in where available.

Preparing and Submitting a Report

  1. Select the Jurisdiction and Report Type.
  2. Complete the form. Required fields are marked, and the subject, beneficiary and suspicious indicators from the alert are shown for reference.
  3. Click Save Draft at any time to keep your work.
  4. When the report is complete, click Assign to MLRO and confirm with Submit. The report is checked for missing required information first, and the MLROs are notified.

L1 users can save drafts but cannot assign a report to the MLRO.

MLRO Review and Sign-off

An MLRO opens the report from the queue and either:

  • clicks Sign Off to approve it for filing. This records who signed it off and when, and makes the report available to download; or
  • clicks Return To Analyst and gives a reason (at least 20 characters). The report goes back to the analyst for correction. The filing deadline keeps running while it is being corrected.

If a signed-off report is edited, the sign-off is withdrawn and the report must be approved again.

Downloading and Filing

Once a report is signed off, use the download icon on its Filing Report page:

  • Download as PDF: the filing report as a PDF, with a cover page, the report details and every form section.
  • Download as Xml: the filing as a structured XML file.

Each download is recorded in the report's history. Upload the file on the regulator's portal, then record the filing as described below.

Recording the Filing Status

After filing, the MLRO clicks the report's status and chooses a new status in Change Filing Report Status:

Pending informationThe regulator has requested more information.

A status can be updated more than once, for example from Filed to Pending information and back to Filed.

Deadlines and Overdue Reports

Each report's deadline is calculated from the jurisdiction's rules and the report type. The Deadline column shows, for example, "Nd left", "Due today" or "Overdue by Nd". Overdue reports are shown in red, and reports due within three days are highlighted. After filing, the column shows whether the deadline was met or how late the report was filed. Dates are shown in UTC.

JurisdictionReportDeadline
SurinameObjective indicator14 calendar days from the transaction
SurinameSubjective indicator5 calendar days from when the indicator was found
South AfricaSTR, SAR, TFTR, TFAR15 business days from when the alert was raised, with a 48-hour first-touch window
South AfricaCTR, IFTR3 business days
United StatesSAR30 calendar days from the determination (60 days when critical information is unavailable)
United StatesCTR, Form 830015 calendar days from the transaction
United Arab EmiratesSTR, SAR35 business days from the alert

For a United States SAR or a Canadian STR, the deadline starts from the determination: the moment someone concluded the activity was suspicious. Record it with Record the determination (L2 and above) on the report. Report types without a fixed deadline show the time elapsed instead.
